🤣 Badly Dubbed Anime Scenes by a Black Guy! 🇯🇵
In this Youtube Short, I attempt to dub over popular anime moments in Japanese, despite my limited Japanese skills! And yes, before you ask, I'm a black guy, and I know that might seem unexpected. But that's part of what makes this video so fun – watching a non-Japanese speaker like myself trying to dub over an iconic Dragon Ball Super clip in Japanese is a recipe for hilarity!
I've always been an anime fan, but I never had the chance to learn Japanese properly. However, that didn't stop me from trying to imitate my favourite anime characters and their lines. And now, I'm taking it to the next level by trying to dub over their lines in Japanese – or at least, my attempt at it!
For this video, I chose a Dragon Ball Super clip because it's one of the most iconic and beloved anime series of all time. I wanted to see if I could capture the same intensity and energy that the original Japanese voice actors bring to the scene, even if my own voice sounds...well, not quite as polished as theirs!
And let me tell you, it was a challenge. Even though I've watched this scene so many times before, trying to match the timing, tone, and inflexion of the Japanese voice actors was no easy feat. I had to listen to the clip over and over again, pausing and rewinding to get each line just right.
But in the end, I think the results speak for themselves. My attempt at dubbing this Dragon Ball Super clip in Japanese might not be perfect, but it's definitely entertaining. And who knows – maybe I'll inspire other non-Japanese speakers out there to try their hand at dubbing their favourite anime scenes in Japanese, too!
Overall, I had a blast making this video, and I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
