Although we wont know what the 1.20 update will be until Minecraft live which is October 15th, we do know that Mojang pulls features from the announced section. Some of these are ideas from over 5 years ago.
THE RETURN OF THE MOB VOTE
Last year, the community voted for the allay to join Minecraft. This year, you will get to vote for a new mob but we’re doing things a little bit differently. Instead of voting on Twitter, you will now be able to vote in a special Bedrock server, the Minecraft launcher, or here on Minecraft.net! The polls open on October 14, noon EDT which means that you will have a full 24 hours to cast your vote, (and change it as many times as you like!) while also keeping the results a total surprise until the announcement is made during the show.

Minecraft Live is a virtual event that's accessed around the world. It's packed with news about the game, content creators, and it will include a community vote that influences the game.
WHERE CAN I WATCH MINECRAFT LIVE?
You can watch Minecraft Live in any place that has an internet connection. Use your phone, tablet, PC, or game console to watch it on the Minecraft website or Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch accounts.
WHEN IS MINECRAFT LIVE?
Minecraft Live will be held virtually on October 15, 2022 and will begin at 12PM ET with a Community Pre-Show starting at 11:30am ET.
