The Clone Wars (22–19 BBY) was a significant, three-year conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS). Known also as the Clone War, it took its name from the Republic’s army of clone troopers, created to battle against the CIS’s vast droid forces. With both sides deploying enormous armies—the Grand Army of the Republic and the CIS Droid Army—this war became one of the largest in galactic history, engulfing star systems throughout the galaxy following its outbreak in 22 BBY.
During the prequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Clone Wars occurs between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The series centres on the conflict between the Galactic Republic, supported by the Jedi Order, and the CIS, a separatist movement led by Sith Lord Count Dooku. Unknown to most, the shadowy Darth Sidious manipulates both factions, using the war to weaken the Jedi and amass power to establish a new governing order under his rule.
The main characters in The Clone Wars include Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padmé Amidala, Yoda, and Mace Windu, along with Anakin’s Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, and clone troopers like Captain Rex of the 501st Legion, each with distinct personalities. The antagonists primarily belong to the CIS, but the episodes also feature crime lords, bounty hunters, and dark-side Force users.
