Scroll-Free Turning on CNC Lathe, Feasability Test | Seco Tools
Scroll-free turning is not a new machining process but still not very common.
The main advantage of this process is the short machining time, the good resulting surface (in our Tests about Rz=1,21 μm and Ra=0,21 μm), and of course the scroll/lead-free surface. Scroll/lead-free surfaces are often required for example for sealing surfaces that are often grinded.
So, if the machining situation and the required tolerances allow it the customer can get rid of an expensive grinding process.
