The coconut crab, the largest of its kind to roam the earth, is a monster of land-dwelling invertebrates. With a leg span stretching up to three feet and weighing as much as nine pounds, its formidable size is only matched by its otherworldly appearance. Its 10 spindly legs and substantial abdomen make it a frightening sight to behold, like a spider from your worst nightmares come to life. But, despite its intimidating appearance, the coconut crab is not a fan of human flesh, preferring instead to feed on fruits, nuts, seeds, and the remains of animals. However, this does not make it any less of a frightening force to be reckoned with.
