My Heidenhain TNC155A subdivides one sine(/cosine) cycle into five parts at it's analog frontend board and the the digital controller (counter) can either read the pulses at x2 or x4 (quadrature, rising, falling edges). I could also use the x2 and I'd need 10:1 reduction.
