In the never-ending process of cleaning the workshop, I tripped over a broken vise once again. As always, this Chinese gem broke due primarily to poor workmanship. And since the vise isn't mine, it's been lying on the floor for two years now... Mustering up my courage, I finally unpacked the lathe and got to work, desperate to free up another quarter of a square meter in the workshop. ;)
I'm asking the owner of the vise to take it from me at the earliest opportunity. A simple "thank you" will suffice. ;)
In this video, I use three machines for repairs: a lathe, a planer, and a band saw. This was my first time cutting this type of thread. The cutter was high-speed steel and stubbornly refused to cut the cast iron, and even bent wildly. I've worn out the threads, but now I'm going to look for a decent cutter for internal threads – specifically for inserts. ____________________________________________________________________
