Have you ever wondered why Siri or Alexa are able to understand every word you say? The answer is Natural Langrage Processing. In this 365 tutorial, we’ll talk about NLP – the field of artificial intelligence concerned with the interaction between computers and human language. It enables computers to process and analyze large amount of natural language data, so they become capable of understanding the contents of written documents, video files and audio files.
NLP is subdivided into Natural Language Understanding and Natural Language Generation. NLU deals with the reading comprehension of machines. Its application sentiment analyses is responsible for the classification and interpretations of emotion in text.
NLG, on the other hand, deals with the forming of meaningful sentences in the form of natural language, which allows it to be used in the fields of automated journalism, customer support, meteorology, marketing and sales.
Watch till the end of the video, as we will be talking about a machine that dominates both NLU and NLG, and is capable of understanding and answering questions posed in natural language. In 2011 it notoriously participated in the quiz show Jeopardy! and beat 2 human champions winning the 1st place prize of $1 million.
