▬▬▬▬ Video Transcript ▬▬▬▬

Hey, it's Matt here, and today I'm going to show you how to create a new preset in Compressor. When you open Compressor, you'll notice all the built-in presets that come with your Mac, like the ones for Apple devices, proxies, and so on.

These are great for when you're outputting a project to Compressor, but what if you want to create your own preset? I've got a bunch of custom presets I've made, like my YouTube one.

This is what I use for uploading videos to YouTube. You can take a look at my settings and copy them if you like, though keep in mind, what works for me might not work for everyone.

For instance, I set my bit rate at 80,000 kbps, which some might argue is too much or too little. For video and audio settings, I've chosen MP4 as the file format because it's ideal for YouTube uploads.

But let's say you want to create your own preset. Just head to the bottom left of Compressor, click on the plus symbol, and then select 'New Preset'.

This opens a window where you can choose your file format. There's a bunch to choose from, like H.264, MP4, QuickTime, and even MP3 if you're working with audio.

Interestingly, while Final Cut Pro exports Apple devices in MP4, Compressor lists them as MPV files, which are slightly different. But for YouTube, I stick with MP4.

You can name your preset whatever you like. For demonstration, let's call it "Test Preset 1".

You don't need to add a description unless you want to. Once you've named it, you'll see all the customizable settings on the right side.

You can adjust the bit rate and other values to your liking. I won't dive into what each setting does—that's for another video.

This guide is just about getting your preset up and running. And that's pretty much it!

I hope this tutorial on creating a preset in Compressor has been helpful for you.
