Old, slanted houses, roads riddled with craters, gloomy faces and, often, elderly, because there are no young people here — the border villages of Karelia seem to have survived the war.
But no, these places have yet to get to know the destructive power of KABs, ballistics and combat drones — right now the Kremlin is stuffing the region with troops, tanks and ammunition depots. Allegedly, to defend against NATO. But translated from Putin's language, this always means the opposite — to attack.
One of the likely targets is neighboring Finland. After all, the residents of Karelia have been set against the Finns for at least the last twenty years.
