Polina was an alternate in 2019 and joined the competition in week 4. She injured her back during rehearsal for week 10 and performed anyway, it was visibly noticeable, and she subsequently sat out week 11. Her semifinal performance, a bad song choice or making a statement? We are the World is a great song but not a song that is going to win a singing competition and with that many people on stage?
