Four suspects in the gang rape case in União de Vila Nova have been arrested. | Pantanal Case.
According to the Public Security Secretariat, four suspects have been identified, three of whom are teenagers and one an adult. The minors have already been apprehended — two in the capital of São Paulo and one in Jundiaí.
The 21-year-old adult, who was a fugitive, was arrested in the interior of Bahia, in the municipality of Brejões, after being located in the Serrana district.
The crime occurred on April 21, but only came to the attention of the authorities on the 24th. According to reports, family members delayed reporting it out of fear.
During this period, videos of the abuse began circulating on social media, generating outrage and mobilization among residents of the region.
The investigations are under the responsibility of the 63rd Police District, in Vila Jacuí. After the victims were identified, the Child Protective Services activated the protection network, ensuring medical care and social support for the families.
One of the victims was missing for three days after the crime.
Last Friday, residents held a protest demanding justice.
