6. Haircutting Service | 180-Degree Layers | Cosmetology Practical Exam | Texas
In this video, I'll show you how to perform a 180-degree layered cut, ideal for creating movement and volume in the hair.
Although I'm demonstrating a 180° layered cut here, you can use any type of layers you prefer, as long as you meet the exam requirements.
✅ Steps that MUST be performed in order:
1. Disinfect/clean your hands
2. Prepare the mannequin for the service
3. Perform a scalp analysis
🔄 Steps that DO NOT require a specific order:
4. Use a razor with a guard during the cut
5. Follow the guide throughout the cut
6. Use scissors during the cut
7. Combine the haircut
8. Cut a minimum of 1 inch across the entire head
9. Remove the hair from the station and sweep the floor
🧠 Important tips for your exam:
💡 The evaluator will NOT read the steps to you. You must arrive prepared and know the order and execution.
🔁 Practice constantly. Repetition is key to mastering the service.
🙅♂️ Don't look at or copy your classmates. This can be considered cheating and affect your result.
🎭 Act confidently and naturally. If you feel nervous, take three deep breaths and continue.
📌 Keep your station clean and organized at all times.
🗑️ Important: Even if you discard materials during the exam, you can take them home afterward.
