Inspired by the openRC tractor and openRC F1 projects, this 1/10th scale 3D printed 1930s race car was inspired by the first single seat race car or "monoposto", the Alfa Romeo Tipo P3. It is not intended as a precise scale replica, but a car from that period with room to customize.
The car features frame rails, leaf springs (not very springy) and a drag link for steering like race cars of the period. The car in the video is powered with a Shorty LiPO 2S pack and a brushed 540 motor with 21 turns. The solid rear axle is driven with toothed belt drive. It is a CHALLENGE to drive with the solid rear axle and 3D printed TPU tires, but that makes it fun at lower speeds and in smaller spaces. With 20 mm of ground clearance it can handle some uneven surfaces like twigs. Perhaps a set of dirt tires is in the car's future.
The car was printed entirely on a Creality Ender 3 S1 in about 70 hours of print time, mostly in PLA. the tires are a high flow TPU.
In the open source spirit, not only are the STL files available, but FreeCAD source files as well as a design blog that shows the design decisions made and other options.
