tldr; follow the msq (main story quest, denoted by either an orange text glow which eventually turns into a blue globe symbol) and finish that all the way through skipping side quests as they give poor exp for time investment
you are also able to purchase powerpasses for irl monies but i would HIGHLY suggest you at least manually level 1 character normally all the way through just for your own sake.
