LOVE, DEATH & ROBOTS (THE DROWNED GIANT) ❤️☠️🤖
The giant focuses the plot on himself, but the story is not about him. It is about one of the townspeople - the main character and his thoughts about what happened, which are broadcast to the viewer in a voiceover. Unlike other locals, he does not climb on the giant in the first minutes, does not paint graffiti on it and is especially serious about what happened. He cares what the giant's life was like. How much does he look like us? How did he feel when he died?
And this contrast of the merry crowd and the silent hero puts in place who is a robot and who is a man. While the giant is "removed" from the beach and his remains are transported throughout the city (the residents decided to put the penis in a solution and show it in the local tent), the hero reflects on how instantly everyone forgot about what happened. How scary it can be when big events are erased from memory and how everything spectacular is capable of becoming the most commonplace in a short period of time.
The animation in the novel looks as realistic as possible, which excites and destroys the wall between the viewer and the episode. The feeling that this can happen anywhere and that people will behave in this way - indifferently - is jarring enough. This seems to be a great ending episode - it is not so rich in plot, but the thought put into it opens up a lot of space for discussion.
