Which is better when using computational software (i. e. Matlab, R, Python, among others), M1 Mac or Windows for research projects that involve software to do heavy computations? Especially if you already have a windows pc that struggles with being very laggy. Should you try out the macbook pro with the silicon m1 chip or stick with windows.
Some of the things to consider are cpu gpu, ram and Matlab's compatibility with M1 Silicon chips is currently limited to Rosetta 2 with native on the way in a future release.
