This is a small block of plastic with a magnetically closed lid covering a 7mm hole for organizing cables. You peel-and-stick it down wherever you want the cable to stay, pop open the lid, and lay the cable inside it. The magnet holds the lid down and the cable inside which keeps it form falling off a table, moving around, etc...
They work well anywhere you are willing to put a piece of peel-and-stick adhesive. (I was afraid to attach them to nice furniture, as I don't know how aggressive the adhesive is.) The package includes six cable holders with sticky pads already installed, plus two extra bonus sticky pads. I reviewed the purple color, but they also come in black.
Once they are stuck down, it is easy to open the top clasp to release the cable if you want to move it, but the magnet holds it down strongly enough that I'm not worried about the cable accidentally coming out. It should also work for most lamp and small appliance cables, but an extension cord may be slightly too large for the 7mm hole.
