Default implementation of Google Fonts in WordPress is render blocking. I optimize it using lazy asynchronous loading technique. It can help you to get 100 PageSpeed score.
With lazy loading CSS and font files (woff2) are still loaded but are not render blocking. This helps to reduce Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) time.
