Safe Mode - Microsoft Security Essentials Scan
Click Start
Type msconfig into Start Bar or in Run, Press Enter
Click on the Boot tab
Check both Safe Boot and Network
Click Apply, click OK
Click Restart
Now that you're in Safe Mode locate Microsoft Security Essentials, right click, and select Run as Administrator
Run the Scan as normal, it may take longer than usual to complete
Remove any potential threats found and close
To return to Normal Windows mode:
Click Start
Type msconfig into Start Bar or in Run, Press Enter
Click on the Boot tab
Uncheck Safe Boot
Click Apply, click OK
Click Restart
