How to sew a children's windbreaker jacket, lesson 8: finishing the hood
Today we'll continue working on the hood, and tomorrow we'll tackle the zipper! 😊
• Take our windbreaker made from jacket fabric and place the center of the hood on the center of the lining windbreaker hood, right sides facing each other. For larger sizes, we combine the stitches for sewing the center part of the hood.
• Pin around the entire perimeter, aligning the hood made from the jacket and lining fabrics.
• Stitch.
• Make notches in the concave areas.
• Straighten the windbreaker, fold the lining inside, and now we'll insert the elastic.
• Pull the elastic through the hole.
• Attach the elastic stopper.
• Pull the elastic through the hole.
• Make sure there's enough free end for sewing.
• Thread the elastic through the other hole and secure it with the stopper.
• Secure the ends of the elastic on both sides with a machine at the minimum stitch length, making a tack.
• The elastic needs to be secured in the center of the hood.
• Hand stitch with a needle and thread, grabbing the elastic without piercing it, so it can move freely. We do this so that when we sew the finishing stitch, we don't lose the elastic or accidentally stitch it on.
