COVID-19 Coding Guidance | New ICD-10-CM Code

In this video, I will share the news.
We are living through the pandemic of the coronavirus also known as COVID-19. And annually our coding manuals are updated with new codes deleted codes and revised codes. This year we get to experience the why new codes are created with COVID-19. There are various coronaviruses but our pandemic related to COVID-19. As a result, a new COVID-19 code was going to be released in the October 2020 ICD-10-CM update. Well, it has since been determined by the Coordination and Maintenance Committee to make the COVID-19 code effective April 1st. The ICD-10-CM code for COVID-19 is U07.1 and it is classified to Chapter 22 (codes for special purposes).
