In this video, we'll take a look at Dub-X from TAL, a great piece of audio delay software.

Just like every other amazing plugin from TAL, Dub-X brings the wonderful sound of analogue, to the digital space. The TAL Dub delay is beautiful and rather customizable.

Like most other delay VST out in the market, you get the basic cookie cutter settings, but TAL goes a step further, the feedback nobs are greatly sensitive to the point you're able to start generating sounds and progressions as if it's a generator, rather than an effect, making this a great piece of software for sound design, psychedelic music or even just to play around, it's great.

The presets allow you to achieve a nice chorus effect, distortion, harmonic sounds and much more, making it a wonderful tool for just around $20. Did we mention it's that cheap? Because it is!

TAL is wonderful with their pricing, having most of their plugin library completely free and anything you can buy is amazingly cheap in comparison and the Dub X is no different. What else is there to say? And you know what's even better than cheap software? Free software.

Dub-X is a remake of the original freeware plug-in the TAL Dub, which is still available on the TAL website and you can get it right now, BUT, if you choose to invest the $20 - you get plenty of additional features and AAX and OSX 64 support and not like with some of the classic software-based plugins known to be made by TAL, this one is completely unique and you find this sound anywhere else and the aforementioned possibility to basically loop the delay forever is a design desition and not a byproduct of the code behind the plugin.

This means the TAL Dub-X is catered for you to generate infinite loops of delay, with the special saturations stage and their high-quality low pass filter with resonance settings. Some of the other features include a ping pong mode, delay times up to two seconds, a high and a low pass filter, host tempo sync and many more (like Stereo triangle LFO modulation for delay time and resonance filter).

So if this doesn't sound like a bargain for the price I don't know what will. But, if you want to try it out before committing to a license, you can download a demo, which includes a rising white noise that recures every minute but shouldn't be too invasive for you to get a feel for the plugin.

And what does the free plugin have to offer? Well, to start with, there are three different versions you can download! The TAL Dub, TAL Dub-2 and TAL Dub-3.

The first one is a vintage style delay effect that can generate anything from really clean, to really distorted. Its sequel, the Dub-2 introduces a nicer GUI and a brand new sound engine, which introduces plenty of additional features not found in the first one, like a sinus LFO and a 4x oversampled distortion stage.

And with the Dub-3 we see a complete rework for the GUI once again and additional features that include non-linear 6dB low pass filter, 3dB high pass filter. All of these are wonderful choices with their unique sound, so you have plenty to choose from and play around even before buying the TAL Dub-X, which is only $20, so feel free to get the whole collection.
