One of the most common problems with Japanese Toyotas is the stopcock when replacing the front crankshaft seal. After removing the timing belt, we encounter a tightly seated gear on the crankshaft. No matter how much you pour, screwdrivers, or whatever, you can't remove it.
Using my 1992 Toyota Corolla with a 4EFE engine as an example, I'll demonstrate one method for removing the gear without following the manufacturer's manual.
