3 key facts to remember about the inverse square law
1- If you increase the distance of a light source, the same amount of light is now falling over a larger area, and it is less intense.
2- doubling the distance means quadrupling the area, so the intensity of light will be one quarter.
3- increasing the distance of light by a factor of N will increase the area by the square of N, and the intensity will be 1/N2
