Join data from one map layer to another in QGIS

This video shows you how to do what we call a 'spatial join' in QGIS, using an example where we have a points layer (cities) and we want to add a column to it containing the name of the state it's in (which is stored in a separate map layer). It's pretty quick in QGIS. Note that in versions of QGIS before 3.28 the Join Attributes by Location options look a bit different, but the process is very similar.
