How to Remove Mouth Clicks in Adobe Audition (DeClicker vs Auto Heal)

Mouth clicks are one of the most distracting issues in voice recordings. They happen because of dry mouth, sticky saliva, or simply being too close to the mic — where the proximity effect exaggerates every little mouth noise.

In this video, I’ll show you how to:

Identify mouth clicks in your recording (waveform & spectral view).

Use Adobe Audition’s built-in DeClicker effect — and understand how its Threshold and Complexity controls work.

Try the Auto Heal tool for more precise repairs.

See why DeClicker often falls short, why Auto Heal works better but is slow, and why most professionals prefer using a third-party plugin for reliable results.

👉 If you follow along, you’ll notice that DeClicker isn’t always the best solution. Auto Heal is cleaner but only works on small sections. That’s why in the next tutorial, I’ll cover the plugins that do a far better job of removing clicks efficiently.

In this video, you will get:

Introduction to Mouth Clicks
Why clicks happen & how to prevent them
Using Adobe Audition DeClicker (Medium vs Heavy)
Threshold & Complexity explained
Auto Heal method
Limitations & why 3rd party plugins are better
