VLOG | Critical situation in Kyiv | -15°C I'm frozen to the bone
This is my typical day in Kyiv during a blackout and extreme cold. It's -15°C outside, there's been practically no power for 24 hours, and I'm literally adapting to the new conditions.
In this video, I show how my morning begins without power: I pack warm clothes, try to wear wool, and use flashlights and a gas burner to make life a little easier.
Today, I decided not to stay home and went to a cafe to drink hot tea and charge my phones. Before that, I had to dig my car out of the snow—it was cold and difficult, but I managed.
After the cafe, I went into town to run some errands, parked my car near the metro, and decided to take the metro—and that turned out to be a mistake. During the air raid, service between the banks of the river was suspended, and I spent over an hour on the metro. It was cold, children were crying, people were waiting and freezing.
In the end, I decided to go home. It was dark outside, the left bank was completely without power, and everything was running on generators. We managed to have a hot dinner, but the day still left a heavy feeling—not everything had been accomplished as planned.
In the evening, the power was still out. I filled my bed with hot water bottles instead of a hot-water bottle and simply lay down to rest.
This isn't a complaint or an attempt to evoke emotion. This is simply the reality of Kyiv right now and my honest blog about how we live and cope.
