Driver's License (SIM) is classified based on the difference in the level of competence of the Driver, which is required for each function of the Motor Vehicle and the capacity or weight of the Motor Vehicle. Regarding the type and classification and use of this SIM, it has been regulated in the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Police Number 9 of 2012, then this regulation was updated again with the Regulation of the State Police of the Republic of Indonesia Number 5 of 2021. Regarding Issuance and Marking of a Driving License Article 3 Paragraph (2 ) SIM as referred to in paragraph (1) is classified into:
1.) SIM A, valid to drive Ranmor
with the maximum allowable weight
height 3,500 kg (three thousand five hundred kilograms)
in the form of individual passenger cars and cars
personal property;
2.) General SIM A, valid for driving
Ranmor with the amount of weight allowed
a maximum of 3,500 kg (three thousand five hundred
kilograms) in the form of public passenger cars and
general goods car;
3.) SIM B1, valid to drive Ranmor
with the allowable amount of weight more than
3,500 kg (three thousand five hundred kilograms) in the form of
individual buses and freight cars
individual;
4.) General B1 SIM, valid for driving
Ranmor with the amount of weight allowed
more than 3,500 kg (three thousand five hundred kilograms)
in the form of public buses and general goods cars;
5.) SIM B2, valid to drive Ranmor
in the form of heavy equipment vehicles, towing vehicles,
and vehicles by pulling patch carts
or individual trailer with a weight of
allowed for patch carriage or
trailer of more than 1,000 kg (one thousand kilograms);
6.) General B2 SIM, valid for driving
Ranmor in the form of heavy equipment vehicles, vehicles
towing, and vehicles by pulling carts
common attachments or trailers with weight
which is allowed for patch carriage or
trailer of more than 1,000 kg (one thousand kilograms);
7.) SIM C, valid to drive Ranmor
Type of Motorcycle with cylinder capacity
engines up to 250 cc (two hundred and fifty
cubic centimeters);
8.) SIM C1, valid to drive Ranmor
Type of Motorcycle with cylinder capacity
engines above 250 cc (two hundred and fifty
centimeter cubic) up to 500 cc (five hundred
centimeter cubic) or similar Ranmor which
use electric power;
9.) SIM C2, valid to drive Ranmor
Type of Motorcycle with cylinder capacity
engines above 500 cc (five hundred cubic centimeters)
or similar Ranmor that uses power
electricity;
10.) SIM D, valid to drive Ranmor
special types of vehicles for people with disabilities
Disability equivalent to SIM C class;
and
11.) D1 SIM, valid to drive Ranmor
special types of vehicles for people with disabilities
Disability equivalent to SIM class A.
