You need to be on the Home tab of the software to be able to complete these tasks. The three tools you need for the formatting task are all available on the Home. To make text bold, just select the word (s) and then click the bold command denoted as B. Italicizing involves clicking the command with the symbol "I" after the text selection. And lastly you need to click the symbol "U" with line under it to underline in Microsoft Word.
