This is how to use a green screen with the Zoom software to get professional keying so you can put in your own backgrounds. I setup a green screen by my webcam and show you the process of getting everything setup proper. Lighting is important with the green screen but not as important as you think. You can get a great key/virtual background with minimal lighting.
You go to virtual backgrounds to upload your video or still frame to insert behind you. You'll see how much better it is to select "I have a green screen" in the options over the default.
The virtual background feature allows you to display an image or video as your background during a Zoom Meeting. This feature works best with a green screen and uniform lighting, to allow Zoom to detect the difference between you and your background. Watch a video about this feature.
You can also upload your own images or videos as a virtual background. There are no size restrictions when adding your own virtual backgrounds, but we recommend cropping the image to match the aspect ratio of your camera before uploading it.
Example: If your camera is set to 16:9, an image of 1280 pixels by 720 px or 1920 pixels by 1080 pixels would work well.
Works with Zoom Mac or Windows app.
Open the application, sign in, click your profile picture, followed by the Settings link in the drop-down menu.
Navigate to the Virtual Background tab. (If you do not see this tab, log in to the Zoom website, go to Meeting Settings, and make sure Virtual Background button is toggled on under the Meeting tab.)
In the Virtual Background tab, users can choose from pre-installed backgrounds or upload their own photos or videos.
If you do have a green screen setup, select “I have a green screen” so the software can properly set up your background. If you do not have a green screen, Zoom recommends streaming from a location with a solid background color.
If you’re using Zoom from your iPhone or iPad, you can also change your background in the iOS app.
