Black holes are often described as "scary"
because they are one of the most mysterious
and extreme objects in the universe.
Here are a few reasons why some people might
find black holes to be frightening:

They are invisible: Black holes are difficult
to observe directly because they do not emit
any light or radiation. Instead,
they are detected by the effect they have
on nearby matter, such as stars or gas clouds.

They have extreme gravity: Black holes
have an incredibly strong gravitational
pull that can be millions or even
billions of times greater than that of the sun.
This means that anything that comes too
close to a black hole, including light,
can be pulled in and never escape.

They can distort space and time: Black holes
are known to warp the fabric of space and time,
creating strange effects such as time dilation
and gravitational lensing.

They can destroy anything that comes too close:
The extreme gravitational forces around
a black hole can tear apart anything that
gets too close, including stars and planets.
