Gigafactory Texas on 17 July 2023! This is where Model Y’s and Cyber Truck production happens!
Lots of activity and big deliveries around the site today!
Although not in the video, I did take the opportunity to capture a number of interesting images on the west side of the highway, where earthwork and road construction seems to be hitting another gear and the speed of progress ramped up! Where we see the Geotextile membranes installed and fresh dirt being spread over it, I think what is being constructed is the permanent new car staging and transportation lot as part of the "West Support Facility" identified in the permit for this area. I also have heard from some of the truck drivers transporting the new Model Y's off site that this area is where they will eventually be picking up new cars. This makes sense because with the Model Y and new Cybertruck production ramping up, Giga Texas needs a much larger staging lot.
As a reminder, I'm working on a special series of videos with members of the original Quad Squad and will begin to release these later this week and into next week as the end of the first 3 years of construction comes to a close! The interviews were great, we shared a lot of memories, fun times, and information along the way!

Here are some additional highlights from around the site today:
We see the 44th of eventually 68 Megapacks arrive on the site, and they are immediately lifted off the delivery trucks and placed directly into their permanent locations. On the north end, crews are busy adding another segment to each of the steel power poles, doubling their initial height and likely where/how high-tension wires are connected from the north end of the new electrical switchyard to this location.
At the south end of the main factory building, we see steel assembly for the building extension continues and inside the opened Stamping 2 section, we see more work to finish assembling the newest stamping machine, supporting electronic equipment and more! Having the walls removed gives us excellent views into this section of the factory.
On the southeast side, where crews continue to prepare a clearing where the new multi-level parking garage is likely to be built. Near this area, crews are continuing to work on the new road intersection for River Road and the north bound roadway which will eventually run the full length of this side of the main factory.
On the east side where the old house used to be, there are two excavators at work removing the hill and placing all this excess dirt into a line of center dump trucks. These trucks then proceed over to the West Support Facility area and placing this dirt onto the Geotextile membrane.
Speaking of the east staging area, all the materials and equipment that were previously kept here have been removed (some into the factory for installation, others relocated to other areas). This was done, I believe, to offer a temporary overflow parking lot for employees, as the current east side parking area is no longer large enough to cover employee cars, particularly during the day and night shift changeover period.
Finally, the east side of the battery cathode area has crews busy adding new southern walls to what I think is a raw material handling structure, while in the area where the ground slab was removed is getting yellow moisture barrier, rebar, and revised plumbing. The north end of this structure is also being extensively reshaped, all likely due to a late-minute design change for this structure.
There are many other interesting discoveries and things to talk about in the video, so make sure you watch to the end! Thank you for your support and for watching!
