Recent news about companies cutting their share buyback programs is making for surprising readings in the current market. Alberto Iturralde, independent analyst and head of Dax Operations, offers a counterintuitive perspective on this phenomenon that worries many investors.

"It sounds wonderful to me, wonderful for investors who want the market to rise, because when share buyback programs are implemented, when dividend expectations are raised publicly, what they're actually doing is deceitfully leading investors to buy what the company's owner no longer wants," explains the analyst.

The expert maintains his bullish view of the market, despite the recent turbulence. He believes that the current uncertainty, with negative stimuli such as Donald Trump's increase in tariffs from 20% to 50% on European products, is "the best breeding ground for index rises."

Regarding Mapfre, Iturralde recommends maintaining positions. "Stocks that are doing well should remain in the stocks," he says, although he warns that when a period of greater volatility arrives, it will be time to consider exits.

For Nestlé, the analyst is clear: "It's incredibly boring. The food sector is a real pain, no matter what." He recommends exiting these stocks unless the investor doesn't mind holding positions for a long time with limited returns.

As for Inditex, he predicts a rebound to the €50 level in the coming weeks, but warns of its dangers: "It can alternate large, highly directional periods with large, very lateral periods." After a 240% rise over the last two years, he warns of the possibility of a prolonged lateral period.

For those interested in Iberdrola, he believes it will continue to rise, but reminds us that optimal buying moments "come along once in a while, and you have to act at that moment."

For relatively quick speculators, Iturralde recommends Ferrovial with a stop at €45.16 (currently trading at €45.55) and an upside target of €46-€48. The analyst selected this stock after observing that, despite the recent scare, it maintains good upside potential in the short term.
