Sony A9III Anti-Flicker Mode Explained (you can choose Anti-Flicker or Pre-Capture, but not both).
When the first A9II's made it out to the worst lit fields in the world, it was armed with a new feature called, "Anti-Flicker." When activated, two things happened. First, you had to be in mechanical shutter to get this to work so that meant limiting the 20 fps camera to just 10 fps. Second, it meant that you could shoot bursts of images where each one had the same exposure and color balance under "flickering" stadium or arena lights. The worst offender in my neck of the woods was at NC State University's football field. Using anti-flicker there for the first time was a game-changer and the photographers I showed the results to were blown away. So much less time in PS or LR correcting those horrible files!!! Fast forward to the A1 and we got the awesome gift of shooting up to 30 fps on electronic shutter with anti-flicker. That was awesome! Now the A9III comes along and can shoot RAW bursts at up to 120 fps with anti-flicker. In this video I explain how to activate anti-flicker.
