It turns out I'd been misunderstanding the meaning of discipline. I thought discipline meant carrying out a routine every day, without pause, without rest, and never stopping. There's nothing wrong with that thinking, but after reading Never Finished, my perspective changed. According to David Goggins, true discipline is born when you're at your lowest point. When you're at zero and lack the confidence to move forward, but you still push forward because you have a compelling reason why you must.

Goggins emphasized that motivation is a temporary sham. Discipline born from that compelling reason is your only driving force, especially during the phase when you must be truly consistent, cut off all distractions, and work in silence. There's no applause, no one watching your behind-the-scenes process, just you, the commitment you've made, and the voice in your head that keeps pushing you to keep moving.
