Daily and periodic notes in Obsidian come with a lot of busywork to keep it all organized. Moments removes that step. You write a dated heading wherever a thought naturally belongs, and the plugin collects everything into one chronological timeline.
This is a quick tour of the plugin. I touch on why daily notes never quite clicked for me, then walk through the essentials: creating your first moment, the timeline view, and filtering it down to a single related note.

📝 About Moments
Moments is a free, open-source Obsidian community plugin for date-based note-taking — a lighter alternative to the daily notes / periodic notes workflow. Instead of funneling every dated thought into a daily note and manually linking it everywhere, you create "moments": inline dated headings, or standalone dated notes, right where they belong. The timeline view then gathers them all chronologically, and you can filter it to any note to see that note's history at a glance — no backlink maintenance required.
If link-juggling and meta-work have been getting between you and actually writing things down, give it a try.
