Jamo J-203 on Accuphase E-202
My first Jamo speakers where the jamo J-100 me and my brother bought in 1977 and used them in house and on disco parties when we where the dj's. My second Jamo speakers I bought where the Jamo PP-2504 with a power of 250/400w, that was around 1986.
I hadn't plan to test these Jamo's but because they where already connected for the buyer to test them so I though it was a good idea to test my new rode NT4 stereo microphone. The was just the first test with the rode NT4. All my tripod's have a 1/4 screw connection and the rode tripod holder have 3/8 connection. I ordered adapters from 3/8 to 1/4 so in the future I can place the rode on a tripod. My first test also proved I was wright with my panasonic G80 camera,....it only record 128kb mp3. That's the reason why I also bought a new zoom field recorder the zoom H4N pro. I will sell the zoom H2N and the zoom H2 I will give to my nephew who is a musician but doesn't have good recording material. I will also give him my old samsung camcorder what I used as my microphone. Hope you like the sound from this new microphone. It's one of the best on the market with a street value of 440 euro. I was very lucky to buy it for only 175...If the rode is the best stereo microphone I can't say but It will be the best ore second best. The Audio-Technica AT4050ST stereo microphone was tested even as the rode and that one have a street price of 1300 euro so not a option at all and it doesn't have the option to power it with a battery. The cheaper Audio-Technica AT2022 with a street price of 250 euro didn't had a perfect sound because this one is to harsh in the high frequencies. The rode NT4 was by far the best option and is also used in many studio's. It takes power from as well 48v fantom xlr ore a 9v battery what can record up to 400 hours. The only disadvantage what I could find is that it's a very heavy microphone with 480 gram(the audio technica AT2022 only weighs 270 gram). So when I connect this mic on the hot shoe from camera is not a very mobile solution. .....The microphone I used up till now was the microphone from my samsung camcorder. It recorded a better and wider frequency as the zoom H2 and H2N but it can not handle high sound pressure level(SPL), that's the reason why I could only record music with my volume knob very low. I often had my volume knob a bit to hard and you heard that back because of the distortion. The 2 older zoom microphones i have can handle both a SPL from 120 and I made some great sounding live recordings from bands with them. The rode NT4 can handle 143 SPL so even when I will spin my heco the statement (300/450w) with the bryston 4b-st(2x250w) on 75% there will be 0 distortion. So in my future video's not one video will have distortion due to over-pressure. I bought the zoom H4N pro pure as recording device. I will plug the rode in the zoom what can record between 96kb mp3 to wav and even up to 96Khz/24bit. Because youtube is compressing I will record everything in just wave
