Inter/Sections - Religion in India: Tolerance and Segregation
For the third episode of our Inter/Sections podcast series on inter-religious dialogue, the Institute for Communication and Religion within the College of Communication and the Arts is proud to present this live event, “Religion in India: Tolerance and Segregation.”
India is one of the world’s most populous and diverse countries, and this summer the Pew Research Center released a ground-breaking survey showing how Indians communicate across religious boundaries. Join Inter/Sections host Bernie Wagenblast as he interviews international experts on inter-faith relations about how they interpret the survey results.
From the Indian Institute of Technology in Karagapur we are honored to host an award-winning religious demographer and sociologist, Dr. Anway Mukhopadhyay, and from SHU’s Jewish-Christian Studies program we will learn from Rabbi Alan Brill. In 2014 Dr. Brill won a prestigious Fulbright Senior Scholar Award supporting research in India at Banaras Hindu University, and in 2019 he published a critically acclaimed book on Jewish-Hindu encounter called Rabbi on the Ganges. These experts will be introduced by Dr. A.D. Amar of the Stillman School of Business, and the event will close with audience questions shared by ICR Director Jon Radwan.
