How to Fix No Sound on YouTube (Easy)
In today’s tutorial, I’m going to show you how to fix sound issues on YouTube when you can’t hear anything.
To get started with fixing the no sound issue:
1. Open up Google Chrome, and head over to YouTube.com.
2. Once you’re on YouTube, right click on the website tab for YouTube, and you’ll see a menu item called “Mute website”.
3. Click on the “Mute site” menu option.
4. Now right click on the tab again and click on the “Unmute site” menu option.
5. If this method doesn’t work, you can also click the unmute button on a video and ensure that the volume slider is turned all the way up.
6. And if this method doesn’t work for you either, open up a new tab in Google Chrome, and type in the following URL “chrome://settings/content/sound” and hit enter.
7. You’ll now be taken to this sound page, from here, you’ll want to ensure that the “Sites can play sound” option is selected, and make sure that YouTube.com is not listed as a site that is not allowed to play sound, if it is, then you’ll want to click on 3 dots next to the site, and click on the “Remove site” menu option.
8. If none of these options work for you, then another option to try is to go into the system tray, and click on the speaker icon to ensure that your sound is not muted, and your volume is turned up.
9. And if none of these options have resolved your sound issues, then you’ll want to go into the Windows start bar, and type in “Troubleshoot” and click on the “Troubleshoot Settings” search result.
10. A settings dialog window will now display. From here, you’ll want to scroll down and click on the “Additional troubleshooters” option.
11. From this screen, click on the “Playing Audio” option, then click on the “Run the troubleshooter” button.
12. Windows will now start to look for any potential sound issues on your computer.
13. After a few moments, you’ll then be asked what audio source you’re having issues with. I’m going to select my speakers, and click on the “Next” button.
14. The system will now perform a scan to see what potential issues are present.
15. You’ll now be taken to this “Turn off Sound Effects and Enhancements” screen. Click on the “No, Do Not Open Audio Enhancements” option. Since we don’t need to modify sound enhancements.
16. If an issue is present, the troubleshooter will then display it here on this screen.
