The "mainstream" media is in love with the SolarWinds hack. RIghtfully so. It's huge. Despite all the press and attention given to the SolarWinds event, ransomware still remains the #1 threat to you, me, and everyone else in the world.
The SolarWinds hack was sophisticated and 80% of the world would never even use a tool like Orion on their computers. The victims were juicy names like the U.S. Treasury, Commerce Department, and other U.S. Federal Government organizations. We also had a number of private firms like Microsoft, Cisco, and VMWare all have come forward as victims of the SolarWinds event.
Let's take a look at some less popular, but still prominent cyber attacks that revolve around Ransomware and other APT attacks that are more common (and don't require Orion to be installed or running).
Let's also look into the future as we read between the lines of some statements issued by top cyber insurance firms. It would appear the days of cyber insurance are numbered, or at least the payment of ransomware by insurers at a minimum.
Cyber security talks with Bryan Hornung of Xact IT Solutions.
