I often hear that Japanese learners don't want to practice reading and writing because they only want to learn to speak and communicate with Japanese people. However, many forget that they will become fluent in Japanese more quickly if they also practice their reading and writing skills. Only by practicing all areas equally will you eventually become truly fluent in Japanese.
