The keyway on a Nissan Laurel RB20 broke. Experience shows that this happens due to a loose bolt that holds the drive shaft in place. The pulley is connected to the crankshaft, resulting in play and pulley runout. Over time, the key, crankshaft keyway, and pulley keyway are damaged, crankshaft journal wear occurs, all possible tolerances and fits are violated, and the ignition timing is lost. As in our case, we easily and simply loosened the crankshaft pulley bolt with a standard 27 mm wrench without even fixing the drive pulley. Basically, our goal is to restore the key and extend the engine's life for a few more years. And most importantly, then properly tighten the pulley bolt.
