The Herreno wolf dog , officially named Lobito Herreno is a breed of dog native to the Canary Island of El Hierro ( Spain ). Due to its wolfish appearance, the people of El Hierro know it as "lobito" or "wolf dog."It has traditionally been an animal dedicated to herding goats and sheep.
Although their origin is unknown, in the 15th century there were already wolf-like dogs in the Canary Islands , called Cancha by the aborigines. The appearance of this breed, present in El Hierro for at least two centuries, resembles the Arabian wolf .
