The Sands Point Preserve Conservancy proudly presents “Only Breath – A Fall Musicale,” a drop-the-needle collection of favorites from Bach, Beethoven, and 19th century female composer Fanny Mendelssohn to American composers Shirish Korde, Trevor Weston, Kenji Bunch, and Daniel Bernard Roumain. The title is borrowed from the 13th century mystic poet Jalal al-Din Rumi, whose poem, Only Breath, reminds us that all people – regardless of religion, gender, race, or nationality – share essential qualities that make us human. The program celebrates the transformative power of music – it brings together diverse people and cultivates joy. The concert also honors the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg – a brilliant catalyst for equal rights who, through her notorious ‘musicales,’ understood the galvanizing effect of music: "Music is powerful in many ways – and bringing people together is, of course, its greatest power of all." – Ruth Bader Ginsberg
