BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Video 2 below is a continuation of the previous video. Field activities have been completed. Now is the time to transfer the data in the GPS to the PC/Laptop unit through the BaseCamp application and then export it to the ArcGIS application for further processing.
Data from the field results, namely, nest tree points, PU points, path points, and transect lines are created in a folder containing each data in BaseCamp. This is intended to make it easier to export to ArcGIS. The four data are exported in format (.gpx) by BaseCamp.
Furthermore, the four data (.gpx) are converted into “Features” in ArcGIS and followed by exporting the data into format (.shp) which is the main format for spatial data in ArcGIS.
It is hoped that we can understand the process of moving data from GPS to BaseCamp including managing the data, export by BaseCamp to (.gpx), converting (.gpx) to features in ArcGIS, and exporting to files (.shp) in ArcGIS. After this stage, the spatial data from the field results can be further edited as needed, one of which is in the form of a map.
This video is used for the needs of delivering material in inhouse training.
