The Forest is played from a first-person perspective. The goal is to survive as the sole survivor of a plane crash on a forested island by building shelters, weapons, and tools. There is now a complete story ending; the story is told through cutscenes at the beginning (plane crash, your son being kidnapped by a stranger) and at the end of the game, as well as through pictures, photos, and technology that the player can find.
