More tips on how to deal with emotional spending 👇🏼:
Impulse and emotional spending can be tricky for a lot of us but what I’ve found is it happens because of two main reasons:
1. We’re having an emotion we don’t want and we use purchasing something as a way to numb that feeling.
2. Our budgets are too restrictive so we feel the need to spend, similar to a binge in restrictive dieting.
How do we combat this?
1. If it’s emotional- we gotta check in with ourselves.
Ask ourselves- why do I feel the urge to spend? Is it because I’m trying to numb a feeling?
Will buying this change how I feel?
Will it actually give me the result I’m looking for?
2. Check if your budget is too restrictive.
Is this “fuck it” attitude coming from a place of feeling deprived?
If so- loosen up the reigns and see how you can incorporate the things you REALLY want to spend monev on.
