💧 Damp filament is one of the most annoying problems in 3D printing.
🧵 When filament absorbs moisture from the environment, it can start printing poorly: stringing, bubbles, poor extrusion, weak parts, and even jams can appear during printing.
📦 In this video, I show you how I made a homemade filament dryer using only a box, a pen, and the heated bed of a 3D printer.
🔥 The idea is to mimic the basic operation of a commercial filament dryer: applying heat to evaporate the moisture and allow it to escape from the system.
🛠️ To do this, we cut the bottom off the box, placed it on the heated bed, and used small holes in the lid to prevent moisture from getting trapped inside.
🧠 This trick doesn't necessarily replace a professional dryer, but it can be a simple and useful solution for makers who have old, damp, or improperly stored filament. -
