Mindfulness and acceptance interventions have been argued to help athletes stay focused on the task they are performing. They suggest difficult thoughts and feelings are a normal part of being an athlete, and that athletes can learn to focus on the present moment regardless of those internal processes. A common acceptance-based approach is mindfulness, which hopes to help people develop non-judgmental awareness of the present moment.
